April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States, is among a select category of females who have won medals in multiple Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to net her third medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic gold. There is a chance that this is her only chance, at 39 years old. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well it could be able to win gold. Also, it's the result of luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived in the area. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. She stood out however during this game. As a college volleyball season, according to her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do in the year 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. The fact is, she's had numerous big wins and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the international arena, taking home a 2009 world title with each other. In 2012, the duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics of 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to make it back as an All-American. During her final two seasons as a member of the Trojans in the program they won success by winning two successive national titles. For her part she established herself in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players across the country. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top of beach volleyball. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. As a result, Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. In addition, Margie continues to be an inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
